Keep Your Home Clean and Your Family Healthier

A house is not merely a place where one retire to after a hard day’s work, it is a place that offers comfort, safety, security, privacy, warmth and it is the extension of one’s personality and sense of style. To ensure that a house is a safe environment, which enhances the overall well-being of the family, it is fundamental to engage in regular house cleaning. So, what does house cleaning entail, why should it be done regularly and how can it be done fast and successfully?

House Cleaning
House cleaning is described as the process of washing dirty surfaces and house items, disposing of any refuse from the house, dusting walls and surfaces and vacuuming. It also includes cleaning up the house compound, washing windows and scrubbing door mats.
The main purpose of cleaning a house is
·       To make a house safe to live in by eradicating any material or substances that are suitable breeding ground for germs, which are harmful to your family’s health
·       To make your living spaces look more appealing (tidiness and shine)
·       To make the living spaces easier to live in. This is in regards to moving around, sitting, sleeping and most importantly, making the house more conducive when doing various activities such as cooking, reading, watching television, taking a shower and even doing simple tasks such as playing cards etc.,

The Need To Clean House Regulary
House cleaning is not a one-time activity that should be done once a week or several times a month. Cleaning is an activity that must be performed on a daily basis and in some instances, hourly, depending on the cleaning needs. For instance, a home with 3-4 toddlers playing around is more likely to be cleaned every other hour compared to one with one or two adult occupants.
House cleaning should be done regularly because
·       failure to clean house regularly can result in lime scale developing on taps, which increases the risk of contracting water borne diseases such as diarrhea and cholera
·       Mold and pollen fungus are most likely to grow in a home that is not cleaned regularly. Mold is associated with multiple air borne infections, allergies and breathing difficulties such as emphysema
·       Accumulation of refuse attracts bacteria and fungi, which are the main causes of life threatening infections
·       Outdoor air is contaminated with all forms of germs, pollens, toxics, chemicals and smoke. Once these contaminants enter your home carried in by pet, shoes and clothing, they are deposited in the furniture, chairs and carpets, which make your home unsafe environment to live in. Once you clean regularly, you are able to consistently eradicate these contaminants while keeping the house clean and the family healthy.
·       Dust and dirt trapped in carpets, door mats, chairs, on clothes and beddings attract bugs. When house cleaning is not done regularly, bugs and other types of insects such as moths are able to reside in the house and breed and as their number increases, they ruin the house by eating and ruining fibers in the beddings, clothing, couch and carpet.
·       Additionally, there are bugs that produce toxins that are detrimental to human health and others that produce foul smell, which can leave the house smelling like a compost pit.
